Part of the Scottish region

Welcome to the Glasgow branch of Medsin UK! Within the national network, we are a cluster of committed students working together in our local branch to make a positive difference in global health.

Like other branches, our aim is to raise awareness and tackle inequalities in global health through education, action and advocacy. We aim to inspire and encourage students from all disciplines to take part in our activities, projects and campaigns.

Check this page to keep updated about our upcoming events or become our friend on facebook! For more information feel free to e-mail us.

Last semester we successfully hosted the Global Health Conference on Migration Changing Medicine, and it left us with even more ideas of how to shape our branch in the future.

This year we will put emphasis on action. Inspired by the conference, there are two activities that we have set up: we welcome Pharmaware and Crossing borders to join our Medsin family.

Medsin Glasgow organises events on a monthly basis. We will continue to support a food bank providing supplies to destitute asylum seekers, and fundraise at our events for local (and global!) charities. We are also exploring possibilities to collaborate with other university societies, as well as with local charities. As in previous years, we will hold film screenings and invite experts in the field of global health to educate our members.

This year our advocacy campaign will be coordinated by the advocacy and campaigns director, a new position on our committee. This position will be taken by our former president, who is planning to run an anti-trafficking campaign with the full support of the committee.

The Medsin Glasgow committee is full of ideas and motivation, and is excited for the year ahead!
