An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the board of this unique student-led global health charity!
Medsin-UK is a student-led charity which works to realise “a fair and just world in which equity in health is a reality for all”. The charity heads a network of thirty-two local branches and national working groups, and works collaboratively with numerous other activities and projects. The charity leadership consists of a national committee of 12 student members led by a volunteer National Director.
Responsibilities of a Trustee
The Board of Trustees has the highest level of organisational oversight in Medsin-UK. Applicants should be committed to our vision and have a passion for making a difference. Key areas of responsibility will include:
- Overseeing the Medsin-UK’s long term strategy
- Charity governance, including ensuring compliance with Charity Commission requirements
- Mentorship of National Committee members
Trustees are expected to contribute up to two hours per week to their role. Online meetings are held on a monthly basis, and there are quarterly face-to-face meetings held at variable locations around the country. Successful applicants will serve a two-year term, with the opportunity for re-election.
The Board is particularly keen to recruit individuals who would be interested in acting as Chair or Secretary of the Board. In addition, experience in the following areas is desirable:
● Finance and accountancy
● Branding, graphics and design

The outcome of applications will be decided by the voting members of the Medsin-UK network at the Medsin Spring General Assembly in Newcastle on 29-30th April 2017.
