It’s been a busy start to a new academic year at Cardiff Global Health Student Network. Our mission is to get as many new people involved in Global health as possible.
We kicked off the year with a “Give it a Go” session, introducing our new members to Medsin and having an excellent brainstorm of possible campaign ideas to start this year.
Our first event was a wonderfully inspiring talk from a local expert on food sustainability and ethical procurement of food which made all of us rethink everything from the kind of food we buy to the shops we purchase our food from. It really made us analyse where we source our food from and gave us some great ideas for possible campaigns. Three of our members attended TNT courses in Leicester and Newcastle and returned bursting with enthusiasm and new ideas on how to make our branch achieve as much as we can this year.
We’re really looking forward to our upcoming events, with our 5th year students shortly going off on their electives, we’ve already had loads of interest in our next event focusing on ethical electives and we’re hoping to get the biggest turnout yet! Also coming up we have our collaborative World AIDS day event where we’ll be joining up with loads of great societies from foMSF to UAEM to raise awareness and money for a great cause! ◼
